Hampshire
The site in Hampshire provides a sustainable strategic location, with easy access to local facilities providing the opportunity for a high quality urban extension. The main aims of the proposals are to provide a fully integrated and natural extension to the existing settlement, through improved connectivity, recreation opportunities and the provision of community facilities.
Community Creation
As well as 1,100 high-quality, tenure blind zero carbon homes, we plan to deliver:
- Landscaped parkland
- Sports facilities
- Possible primary school
- Premises gifted by Thakeham to a locally owned and administered Community Trust for a shop and cafe
- Ease the pressure on first time buyers, key workers through the provision of quality affordable homes
- A 20% Biodiversity net gain – Retention of existing trees / hedgerows and new planting
- The inclusion of wildlife-friendly features into buildings such as bird boxes, bat boxes and ‘insect hotels’ will integrate with new wildlife corridors through the new community
The bigger picture
Across all of Thakeham’s development, there is extensive consideration of the surrounding environment as well as climate action on a larger scale. In recognition of this, Thakeham has pledged that by 2025 every Thakeham home will be zero carbon in production and carbon neutral in lifetime operation.
Our environmental strategy focuses on: Climate Change, Nature Recovery, People and Communities.
