Mount Green chosen by Thakeham to develop 10 affordable homes in Bookham

Thakeham is pleased to have recently contracted with Mount Green Housing Association to acquire the 10 affordable homes in Preston Farm, Lower Road, Bookham near Leatherhead in Surrey.

The 10 affordable homes will deliver a combination of: 50% affordable rent and 50% shared ownership. Building has now commenced and is scheduled to complete in Spring 2020.

The site, previously occupied by Preston Farm Stables will see the demolition of equestrian and commercial buildings plus the removal of the ménage and sand school.

To retain the look and integrity of the conservation area, some of the existing barns and stables will remain.  Instead of demolition, they will be converted; resulting in a hybrid of the original construction and a new build development.

For Thakeham, Stuart Fullwood, Business Development Director said: “We work long and hard to make sure that any development is sensitive to the expectations of both new residents and the established community.

“The affordable housing on this project will make a positive contribution towards the high demand for affordable housing in this location and Thakeham are pleased to be delivering the homes in partnership with Mount Green.”

The development will also see associated infrastructure including the creation of access, internal roads and footpaths, car parking, sustainable drainage system; with associated landscaping.

Nick Ronald Chief Executive at Mount Green said: “Mount Green is pleased to be partnering with Thakeham Homes to deliver this new development. Sustaining local communities by delivering new affordable homes for people on low and moderate income is a key priority for Mount Green. We have partnered with Thakeham on a number of sites and have been impressed by their approach and the quality of their product. We welcome the opportunity to work with them again.”
