Thakeham signs up to the HBF and MHCLG Charter for Safe Working Practice
Thakeham Group has signed the HBF and MHCLG Charter for Safe Working Practice. The HBF has been working with government to develop a ‘Charter for Safe Working Practice – Covid-19’.
The Charter demonstrates a commitment from house builders and the wider industry to safe working whilst Covid-19 remains prevalent. It also demonstrates government support for house building and sales activity and outlines the measures that should be in place.
Displaying the Charter
Beneath the high-level charter sit detailed protocols the construction industry, government and Thakeham have developed to support safe working on all our sites. The HBF intention is that house builders will display the Charter on their sites, reinforcing their commitment to safe working and helping reduce concerns that their workforce, neighbours and customers may have at the current time.
Thakeham Group along with other HBF members, as well as suppliers, manufacturers and utility companies have been signing up to the Charter over recent days.
Restarting the housing market
Government announced the launch of the Charter, alongside the announcement about the reopening of the sales market including show homes and sales offices. More information can be found on the HBF member briefing, with the Government’s press release on the restarting of the housing market available here.
Rob Boughton, CEO of Thakeham Group, said:
We are proud to be amongst the first home builders to support the Industry guidelines. We are grateful to the HBF for working so hard with the Government to put together a list of workable guidelines.
We know that following the guidelines will help us to keep our staff, our contractors, our suppliers and our customers safe. The guidelines will also reassure local residents in areas where we have live sites.
From the start of the pandemic, Thakeham adapted operations to implement Public Health England, government and scientific advice. The new charter offers more detailed protocols for the construction industry.
Thakeham Group will now display the Charter on its sites throughout the South East. The Charter reinforces the company’s continuing commitment to safe working.
