Goodwood Festival of Speed 2021
The first Festival, in June 1993, redefined what a car event could be, and, in the years since, it has firmly established itself as the world’s greatest celebration of motorsport and car culture. Thakeham was the proud sponsor of the Family Area in 2018 and 2019, we were delighted to be back this year and even had a few surprises up our sleeve.
Bringing Eddie & Ellie to Goodwood!
Eddie & Ellie’s Wild Adventures is a cross-curriculum educational programme for lower KS2 pupils that is built around a children’s book.
It is a fundamental part of Thakeham’s Social Value approach, driving one of our four key Social Value goals – Building Future Generations.
This year we brought Eddie & Ellie to Goodwood so the little ones could learn all about the nature and ecology around them.
With Eddie & Ellie came a brand new activity, ‘Ready Steady Build’! A timed activity to build Eddie & Ellie’s house and the fastest time topped the leaderboard!
We even had an Eddie & Ellie’s Wild Adventures story time under one of our stretch tents.
Family fun for all
The extremely popular Thakeham Treasure Hunt made its big return, offering your ‘little builders’ the chance to operate one of three full-size diggers. This year, aligned with our industry-leading zero-carbon climate commitments, they were fully electric.
We had a brand new activity: ‘Pedal Paddock’, visitors can ‘spin to win’ – powering Scalextric cars with their legs. The faster you pedal, the quicker you drive!
Family favourites such as face painting and tot-car racing, or tired out families could take a pit-stop on our deck chairs and bean bags by the big-screen TV.
Thakeham’s Family Area was right next to the Goodwood start line, so the petrol-head parents didn’t have to miss a thing! As each spinning tyre crossed the famous line of bricks, everyone was right next to the action.
We even had ear defenders for the little ones!
