Thakeham Supports Local Youth Football Club

Thakeham are proud to support Billingshurst Youth Football club, local to our head office here in Billingshurst. The team is an FA Charter Standard club and provides football club facilities for over 200 children from Billingshurst and the surrounding area, with teams from Under 7s right through to Under 16s.

Teams of Every Age

From Under 8s onwards the club has teams at every age level playing in the Horsham & District Youth Football league, as well as two teams playing in the South Surrey Youth Football league. All home games are played on Saturday mornings at Jubilee Fields, Billingshurst. These facilities are shared with Billingshurst FC and include 5-a-side, 7-a-side, 9-a-side and 11-a-side pitches. In the winter months training sessions take place on the floodlight astro turf pitch at the Billingshurst Leisure Centre. In the summer months many of the teams enter tournaments, travelling all over Sussex and Surrey.

The Under 12s is a particularly popular age group, with 30 players split over two teams and a long waiting list. One team competes in the A division of the Horsham & District Youth Football League, and a second team competes in the South Surrey Youth Football League.

Completing Pre-Season Training

The teams play many of the local teams including Southwater, Loxwood and Broadbridge Heath; they also travel further afield to play teams such as Bookham, Lingfield and East Grinstead. Having completed pre-season training and a number of friendly matches in August, the league season started in September. This will finish in March 2017 after which the team will play in tournaments from April to June across Sussex and Surrey.
