Rain Jacket Sponsorship Saves Soggy Eastbourne Borough FC’s Youth Team

Soggy footballers

Thakeham is proud to leap to the aid of a rather soggy amateur junior football team in need of rain jackets!

Most amateur teams simply call off the game in bad weather. But Eastbourne Borough Under 8 Tiger’s play on a 3G artificial pitch. That means most training and games goes ahead rain or shine. In rain, players and supporters alike struggle to stay dry.

When Thakeham heard about the problem for the young drenched players – especially when training, they offered to kit out the team in brand new rain jackets.

Eastbourne Borough FC first team manager Mark McGee was on hand to celebrate the sponsorship before the home game against Gloucester City on April 6th.

Go Tigers!

For Thakeham, Georgie Dawson, Group Marketing Manager said: “As a home developer, we know only too well about the perils of inclement weather when working outdoors so we have every sympathy with a young team starting to make their way in the game. We hope that a few dryer moments with our rain jackets will spur them on to success!”

Eastbourne Borough Under 8 Tigers Squad is a new team preparing for its first league campaign in 2019-20. The players have trained hard twice a week for many months now and so far the team has played 12 friendlies and won every game.

Training transformed

Head Coach Tim Brown said: “We’re very grateful to Thakeham for its kind donation. A little rain during the game isn’t a problem, but when training, or when players are waiting as substitutes on the sidelines, the rain can become an issue.

“We love to play in the rain as much as any team. And we’re lucky that we can play when others can’t. But there’s only so much water our young footballers can take! And the new waterproofs are the perfect solution.”
