Recognised as a Sunday Times’ Best Places to Work

West Sussex-based developer Thakeham has been recognised in the prestigious ‘Best Places to Work 2023’ guide by The Sunday Times. The annual report recognises organisations that have consistently high levels of employee experience and wellbeing across the UK. Based in Billingshurst, Thakeham has more than 200 employees and builds residential housing across Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire.

Powered by WorkL, the results of the ‘Best Places to Work’ guide have been compiled following a nationwide employee workplace survey. The winners have been chosen solely from the survey’s findings, which required participants to answer 26 questions on a range of topics including wellbeing initiatives and recognition schemes. The accolade follows a successful year of awards for Thakeham, which was recognised as the No.1 Construction and Engineering Company to work for in the UK in 2022’s Best Companies survey.

Across its workforce, Thakeham is committed to ‘Building a Stronger Industry’ as part of its key strategic pillars, which amongst its areas of focus include being an exemplary employer and organisation to work with. It deploys a Trainee and Recruitment Programme which nurtures talent at the beginning of people’s professional journeys as well as attracting graduates, trainees, apprenticeships, and military veterans. Thakeham is also a Cornerstone Employer; a flagship community of more than 300 businesses across England helping to bridge the gap between employers, schools and colleges.

Rob Boughton, CEO of Thakeham, comments: “We’re proud of our dedicated colleagues at Thakeham. Ensuring that the team is motivated and engaged is important to us and it’s great that the feedback from our employees has driven our inclusion in the Best Places to Work league.”

Thakeham’s new home communities include its flagship Woodgate development in Pease Pottage and Manorwood, a new development West Horsley, Surrey.
