Thakeham Client to Deliver Residential Scheme in Farnham

Residential Scheme for Local Housing Association

Thakeham Client is delighted to be appointed by Mount Green as main contractor for a new residential scheme in Farnham, Surrey. Mount Green is a local housing association based in Leatherhead who own circa 1300 homes for rent and shared ownership.

The £4 million design and build scheme will comprise 12 semi-detached 3 and 4 bedroom houses for private sale and 6 affordable flats; 2 for shared ownership and 4 for affordable rent. Commencing in January 2016, the project will complete within 12 months.

Steve Tuhey, Managing Director at Thakeham Client, says:

“We are delighted to be working with Mount Green to deliver 18 units over the course of the next 12 months. We have plenty of experience in this area and look forward to building a long-term working relationship with Mount Green.”

A New Trend for Housing Associations

Formerly a care home, the existing site is owned by Mount Green who will use the sale of the private residential houses to fund the development of the 6 affordable units. This is Mount Green’s first diversion into private housing, a trend which is likely to continue as funding cuts continue to affect housing associations’ ability to deliver the level of required affordable housing units.

Danny Sutcliffe, Mount Green, comments:

“We are very happy to have appointed Thakeham Client as main contractor for Farnham. This is an interesting time for us, and other housing associations, as we strive to meet housing demands in a changing environment. We welcome Thakeham Client’s experience and knowledge as part of this team.”
