Thakeham Family Fun Day 2016

The Start of Summer

It was as if someone had flipped the switch from spring to summer – we woke to a clear bright morning with the sun shining and temperatures rising – the perfect start for the Thakeham Family Fun Day.

In its third year, this was our biggest event yet – on Saturday 16th July Thakeham entertained over 800 guests at the stunning venue that is Petworth Park.

The Thakeham Family Fun Day has become an anticipated date in the diary for many. Bringing together the Thakeham team, our trusted suppliers, consultants, contractors and associates and all their families, this is our way of saying thank you for all the hard work and commitment over the past year. The “Thakeham Family” moto goes beyond our own team and extends to all those who play a part in ensuring we deliver quality new homes that we can all be proud of.

A beautiful setting, Petworth Park is a wonderful backdrop – enjoy all the fun of the fair with Harris’s Traditional Fun Fair – colour, sights and sounds taking you back in time with the carousel swing ride, the traditional horse merry-go-round, swing boats, rides for the little ones, the “test your strength high striker”; guests of all ages laughing and smiling in the sun.

Sun, Music and Good Food

The air was filled with music as Kaleidoscope Traditional Jazz Band, complete in whites, stripes and boaters, played to a party of smiling guests; our face painters ensured a vision of colourful characters were present all day long, from butterflies to tigers, their imagination was endless; and the bouncy castles were awash with young people of all ages, the heat and the sun not limiting that endless energy – parents happy to watch from the side-lines.

Mouth-watering food with an impressive BBQ by Rawlings Butchers, a scrumptious hog roast by local company Sussex Spit Roast, and delicious salads by Champion Caterers – all served with a cheeky Pimms & lemonade, a nice cold beer or a refreshing cider from The Great Mobile Bar Company. In traditional English style, two ice cream vans served classic 99’s and ice lollies – perfect for such a hot day!

And when excitement and the heat got a little too much for the guests, Paul Simon Marquees provided the chill-out tent with large bean bags a perfect spot to relax, people watch and simply take it all in.

A Thank You from Thakeham

Thank you to our guests – not only did you ensure a fun filled day but you also helped us raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice by donating to their bucket fund, and to those that bought sweets from our accounts team who ran a traditional style sweet stand to raise money for Action Medical Research for Children.

Our extended thanks goes also to the ever helpful Harris Family, PR Industrial, City and County Graphics, A First Class Flush, Jumping Jacks, T&M Ices. These amazing teams make the day what it is!

A day of this scale takes some organising – we cannot finish until we have said the biggest thank you to Donna Spencer and Nicky Smith for organising such a great day, and to Hayley Fraser, Katie Stoner, Linda Meech who expertly co-ordinated the RSVP list.
