Thakeham furthers Net Zero commitments with Planet Mark membership

To mark the start of COP26, we’re furthering our sustainability commitment by becoming Planet Mark members; to measure, engage, and communicate.

One step greener with Planet Mark

Planet Mark is an internationally recognised sustainability certification for every type of organisation, for real estate and for products. A Planet Mark certification recognises continuous improvement, encourages action and builds an empowered community of like-minded individuals who make a world of difference. Membership commits us to measuring and reducing our carbon emissions, energy and water consumption and travel and waste production.

COP26

COP26 is one of the most important climate conferences of our time, and what is decided over the next few weeks will have significant impact on future generations.

In this crucial event at COP26, we want to ensure that we are a force for good; positively transforming society and the planet by measuring our own impact on the environment. As a result, we will continue working towards reducing our carbon emissions, and we want to share this journey with our community to encourage others to join us.

Net Zero by 2025

Thakeham are proud members of the HBF’s Future Homes Taskforce, playing a leading role in the industry’s quest to become zero carbon, and the first UK Housebuilder to make commitments on the UN’s SME Climate Hub ‘Race to Zero’ Campaign.

Race to Zero is the UN-backed global campaign rallying companies, cities and regions, as well as financial, educational, and healthcare institutions, to take rigorous and immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030 and deliver a healthier, fairer zero carbon world in time.

In addition to committing to the ‘Race to Zero’ campaign, Thakeham were recognised by national news for our support of the government carbon emission targets.

Rob Boughton, CEO of Thakeham, said:

Here at Thakeham, we make no secret of our focus on net zero by 2025 targets. Whilst we support the Government campaign, we have introduced bigger targets of our own which exceed those set out for the house building industry.

We have already implemented a raft of pioneering zero carbon measures to lead and inspire the industry response. We stand shoulder to shoulder with other developers who share our ambitious vision for sustainable community creation. It’s simply too important not to.
