Thakeham Lions take on third Dragon Boat Festival for St Catherine’s
28th August 2018Oars at the ready
The team is recruited. The fancy dress all sorted. The countdown is on. The Thakeham Lions are Dragon Boat Race READY!
Thakeham is ready and excited for the wettest and loudest event of the year – the annual St Catherine’s Dragon Boat Festival.
For their third consecutive year, the Thakeham Lions are thrilled to be back at Tilgate Park raising money for a brilliant cause.
Helping St Catherine’s help local people
Thakeham is thrilled to support the Hospice, based in Crawley, on such an exciting day. A day that has now become a hugely anticipated event in the Thakeham calendar, and for good reason!
Aside from all the fun, in raising money for such a fantastic day, we’re hoping to help St Catherine’s make a real difference to local people. For every 1 person they are able to help in the West Sussex and East Surrey area, there are 2 people they are unable to reach when life comes full circle. All of us can do our bit to change this.
It’s this that drives Thakeham to raise as much awareness and money as possible for this fantastic local cause.
If you’re able to help, please donate to St Catherine’s Hospice here.

Bigger and better
After the huge success of last year, Thakeham has entered their largest team yet. 2017 saw silly costumes, impressive race times and a great, competitive atmosphere. This year promises the same, but with even more enthusiasm and even sillier costumes!
“We are delighted to take part in St Catherine’s Dragon Boat Race again this year. The team had such great fun last year. Our relationship with St Catherine’s Hospice continues to grow and to inspire as we work together towards the delivery of the new hospice at our Pease Pottage development in Sussex.”
