This morning we held our traditional Thakeham topping out ceremony ahead of the new contract to build 49 units at Furnace Lane, Horsmonden. The scheme will comprise a range of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties with a tenure mix of market sale, shared ownership and affordable rent. This is the first scheme with our partners Monson Homes and hopefully one of many more to come.
A fading tradition, the Topping Out has been celebrated in construction for centuries. At Thakeham, we believe it is important to continue this tradition to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that it takes to produce such high-quality, sustainable homes for future generations to thrive in. The ceremony brought everybody together who contributed to the site for bacon and sausage sandwiches, along with a speech from our Chief Strategy Officer, Julian Rooney.
We really appreciate the work that goes into these developments and topping out is a great opportunity for everyone involved to get together and celebrate everyone’s achievements. We have no plans of stopping this tradition and can’t wait to see new and familiar faces at our upcoming ceremonies.
The Thakeham Partnerships team were awarded this £9.2M contract after a competitive tender process, beating 10 other contractors to win the project.
