Zero Bills Housebuilder of the Year
Double success at Octopus Energy’s inaugural Zero Bills Awards

We picked up the top prize of Zero Bills Housebuilder of the Year at Octopus Energy’s first-ever Zero Bills Awards, held in London on 14 May. It was a double success as we were also named Medium Housebuilder of the Year by Octopus.
Octopus established the Zero Bills Awards to celebrate the companies leading the way in low-carbon housebuilding, retrofitting and clean energy innovation. One of the UK’s leading energy providers, Octopus also launched the Zero Bills Standard at the inaugural event, a pioneering framework designed to fast-track the decarbonisation of homes while guaranteeing zero energy bills for residents. Our accreditation to this new standard as Certified Delivery Partner was announced at the launch.
We partnered with Octopus to bring Sussex’s first Zero Bills homes to our Templegate development in Burgess Hill. The 48 Zero Bills homes form part of a wider fully net zero carbon community of 120 sustainable homes at Templegate. All the Zero Bills homes feature a raft of state-of-the-art clean technology, including solar PV panels, air-source heat pumps, wastewater heat recovery systems and home storage batteries.
Our Chief Sales Officer Julian Rooney, who represented us at the event alongside our Operations Director Leon Beale, said: “We believe that homes and communities can be built better, while Octopus believes that energy can be much cheaper and greener. We forged our partnership with Octopus to offer our house buyers peace of mind with zero energy bills in beautiful, sustainable, quality homes. Winning the Housebuilder of the Year award is testament to the outstanding work of our people and our partners.”
Octopus aims to deliver 100,000 Zero Bills homes by 2030, already rolling out the initiative in the UK, Germany and New Zealand. The company has already accredited well over 1,200 Zero Bills homes through contracts with several prominent developers, spanning affordable and private rent, and private and shared ownership.
