In the heart of the Sussex Weald, between the north and south downs

In an area of rolling hills and stunning Sussex countryside

Newick traces its history back to the days before the Domesday Book, and its proud heritage is reflected in the village’s traditional architecture and many historic features. At the heart of the village, there is a Village Green with a pump built to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. Certainly, there was a church in Newick in the 11th century; today there are three churches and three pubs, all historic buildings with their own story to tell.

    Lifestyle

    Enjoy exploring the local area

Living in Newick, there are endless opportunities to explore the local area on foot, by bicycle, on horseback or by car.

The Bluebell Railway is less than 10 minutes’ drive and is a charming day out, running steam trains between East Grinstead and Sheffield Park. The Ashdown Forest is nearby, a diverse heathland with commanding views of the countryside. Head south to bold and bohemian Brighton with attractions including The Lanes, The Royal Pavilion, the Sealife Centre, the pier, the beach and the Brighton i360. Spend a day in the ancient town of Lewes, where you will find one of the oldest castles in England.

    A sense of community

Newick is a village community where there’s plenty going on, including over 30 clubs and societies offering a range of activities. Two pubs in Newick, The Bull and The Crown Inn, are just a five minutes walk from our houses for sale.

Since 1974 the Newick Country Market has taken place in the Village Hall, providing a fabulous opportunity to meet friends and sample local produce. Twice a month the Newick Healthy Walk takes place, encouraging residents to meet, walk, and lead a healthier lifestyle.

The Newick Lawn Tennis CLub and the Kind George V Playing Field are also located near to our property for sale.

    A place to grow up

Newick is a great option for families and is a great place to grow up. Newick’s pre-school and primary school have an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating and there are many other early years options within a few miles. There is an excellent secondary school at Chailey, with higher and further education options in Uckfield, Lewes and Haywards Heath. There are also several acclaimed private schools in the area.

    Local connections

Good road links take you to the coast in around 40 minutes, while Crawley is only 35 minutes away, providing access to Gatwick Airport. The northbound M3 connects to the M25 and London. Local towns such as Lewes and Uckfield are within 20 minutes’ drive, and the train from Haywards Heath to London Victoria takes less than an hour.
