A cross-curriculum educational programme and children’s book for lower KS2 pupils.
Eddie & Ellie’s Wild Adventures is a cross-curriculum educational programme for lower key stage two pupils that is built around a children’s book. Born out of a genuine passion to equip local children with knowledge and enjoyment of the nature and ecology around them.
It is a fundamental part of our social value approach, driving one of our four key goals – building future generations.
We fund a programme of workshops, site visits and a school trip to a Wildlife Trust facility that follows a development’s journey from planning to site completion.
Carefully created in consultation with educational specialists, Wildlife Trusts, parents and their children, Eddie and Ellie is curated to leave a lasting impact long after our development has been completed.
This programme covers all costs, providing activities, books, and materials, plus a free Wildlife Trust education day. It makes learning more engaging by connecting lessons to real experiences, while also introducing career ideas that inspire children for the future.
Beyond education, it encourages kids to appreciate and care for nature, creating a lasting impact. It also delivers meaningful social value for procurement teams, supporting education and sustainability in the community.
Our Social Value and site team work closely with the school to coordinate the programme, ensuring everything runs smoothly. A fully qualified, DBS-checked teacher delivers engaging workshops, bringing enthusiasm and expertise to every session.
The programme is strengthened by a strategic partnership with the Wildlife Trust, providing valuable learning opportunities. Pupils get safe and secure access to materials through Google Classroom, alongside physical books and merchandise. Full health and safety and safeguarding risk assessments are carried out to ensure a secure learning environment.
Eddie and Ellie’s Wild Adventures proudly won the Community Engagement Project category at the BIG Biodiversity Challenge Awards in 2022. The judges praised our creative approach to biodiversity education and how we’ve gone beyond what’s expected in our industry to inspire young minds.
Organised by CIRIA’s Biodiversity Interest Group, this national recognition highlights our commitment to long-term environmental impact. With a passion for engaging future generations, this award reinforces the heart of what Eddie and Ellie is all about.
