Affordable homes completed at Lenham, Maidstone
Lenham completion ceremony see’s Thakeham & MHS Homes mark the final build of the Lenham Springs development.
Lenham Completion Ceremony
mhs homes, one of Kent’s leading housing associations, and property developer, Thakeham, recently celebrated the completion of an exciting new community at Lenham Springs.
The 122 new home development situated in the village of Lenham makes effective use of high-quality design and the modern application of traditional architecture to complement the rural location. Lenham Springs is a mixed tenure development that provides one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom houses for shared ownership, affordable rent and market rent.
Sustainability
With sustainability in mind, the homes are designed to be highly energy efficient, they have access to electric vehicle charging, and are fitted with solar panels.
The completion ceremony marked the start of an exciting new partnership. Lenham Springs is mhs homes’ largest land led development and one of the largest contracts to date that Thakeham have worked on in the Kent area.
The support of Homes England, Maidstone Council and Lenham Parish Council were all key to this successful development and the positive impact that these new homes will have on the local community.
Site Manager, Rory Kelly, took all attendees on a tour around the development, finishing with a formal ribbon cutting by the Mayor of Maidstone, Councillor Derek Mortimer, to celebrate the completion.
Testimonies
Ashley Hook, Chief Executive at mhs homes said:
This flagship development is part of our commitment to build safe and sustainable homes and communities. We’re delighted to be able to mark the completion of Lenham Springs. A huge thank you to all those who’ve been involved in its development.
John Gaffney, Construction Director for Thakeham, said:
Congratulations to everyone who came together to deliver this wonderful new development. From the beginning, we hoped to create a community with a high-quality build and environmental benefits that residents and local homeowners can be proud to be part of. The stunning result is great news for people living in Lenham and the Maidstone area. Above all, we have enjoyed a thriving partnership with mhs homes built on shared values and a focus on improving the lives of residents in Kent.
A new inclusive play park is set to open soon including swings, jungle climber stix, a wheelchair-friendly picnic bench and an adventure trail.
Ashton Freeman, Assistant Director of Development and Sales added
“The park will provide the local community a family-friendly space and add to the growing sense of community we can already see building here. This will finish the development perfectly.”
A total of 122 homes have now been built and all four phases of the development have been completed.
