Pupils get first look at their new primary school

Sneak peak

Warninglid primary school staff and governors were treated to a first sneak peek of their new £4 million school last week.

The new Woodgate Primary School will deliver 210 new school places for children in Pease Pottage. Those places will include all the school children from the current Warninglid primary school when it opens at the beginning of the 2021-22 school year.

Last month, community creator Thakeham Group completed the superstructure around which Woodgate School will be constructed. It meant that the visiting Warninglid school party could begin to get a true feel for the size and layout of their new school.

Vision coming to life

Brett North, Group Marketing Director, for Thakeham Group said: “We enjoyed a wonderful morning showing the Warninglid school party how their new school is taking shape. Now that the structure is finished, you get a sense of the size and the reality of delivering the architect’s vision.

“I think the children could begin to get a good understanding of how different the new school will be.”

The new-build Woodgate Primary School will offer five classrooms and early years nursery provision, a 18m² main hall, library, multifunctional space and a special educational needs room.

In July, dignitaries, partners and developers joined forces to celebrate the start of building. MP for Horsham, Jeremy Quin joined Cllr Nigel Jupp, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, West Sussex County Council as invited guests of Thakeham Group and housing provider Abri.

Woodgate

The Woodgate development is a joint venture between Thakeham Group and Abri. The 45-hectare site is located off Parish Lane to the south of Crawley and to the east of the Moto Service Station in Pease Pottage.

Woodgate includes 619 new homes, a shop and a coffee shop, a community pavilion, a village green and parklands. The development will also provide a home for locally-based charity, St Catherine’s Hospice.
