Site celebration to mark progress at Horsmonden

Topping out

This morning we held our traditional Thakeham topping out ceremony ahead of the new contract to build 49 units at Furnace Lane, Horsmonden. The scheme will comprise a range of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom properties with a tenure mix of market sale, shared ownership, and affordable rent. This is the first scheme with our partners, Monson Homes, and hopefully one of many more to come.

A fading tradition, the Topping Out has been celebrated in construction for centuries. At Thakeham, we believe it is important to continue this tradition to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that it takes to produce such high-quality, sustainable homes for future generations to thrive in. The ceremony brought everybody together who contributed to the site for bacon and sausage sandwiches, along with a speech from our Chief Strategy Officer, Julian Rooney.

We really appreciate the work that goes into these developments, and topping out is a great opportunity for everyone involved to get together and celebrate everyone’s achievements. We have no plans to stop this tradition and can’t wait to see new and familiar faces at our upcoming ceremonies.

Horsmonden

The Thakeham Partnerships team was awarded this £9.2 million contract after a competitive tender process, beating 10 other contractors to win the project.

This exciting development with new partner Monson Homes will provide 49 new homes in Horsmonden, Kent. The site is located on the Western outskirts of the village, approximately seven miles east of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

The scheme includes a range of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes. A mix of tenures will be available for the properties, including shared ownership and affordable rent.

The build will feature an extensive range of high-quality external features and materials, including brickwork, stained timber cladding, painted timber cladding, render, hanging tile, stone cills, hardwood front doors, external brick chimneys, dovecotes, and Juliet balconies.
