Planning permission granted at Lewes Road Ringmer
We’ve received planning permission for our Lewes Road development in Ringmer, East Sussex. Three weeks after receiving a resolution to grant from Lewes District Council’s Planning Committee, the Section 106 agreement has been signed by all relevant parties.
Lewes Road is a development of 95 new net-zero carbon one to four-bedroom homes, 38 of which are affordable across varying tenures, equating to a 40% provision in compliance with planning policy. Each home will have its own dedicated electric vehicle charging point and secure cycle storage, with air source heat pumps and PV solar panels also provided as standard to achieve net-zero carbon.
As well as the homes, the development will feature new play spaces to encourage children to spend time outdoors, improved cycling and pedestrian links, and enhanced connections to the existing public right of way to promote greater use of the wider footpath network. Lewes Road will target a biodiversity net gain of above 10%, with measures including a significant landscape buffer to the east of the site offering separation between Ringmer and Broyle Side, enhanced landscape corridors and habitat creation to enable nature and wildlife to flourish.
Tristan Robinson, our Director of External Affairs, said: “There were over 500 families seeking affordable homes on the housing waiting list during 2022-23 across the Lewes district, which illustrates the clear need for additional housing across the local area. Our Lewes Road development will help to address that need in a sustainable manner. We are taking a leading role nationally in delivering net zero carbon homes, with Lewes Road being our latest scheme to have sustainability at its heart.”
The Lewes Road site is located approximately 800m north east of Ringmer’s existing village centre, which features several shops, cafés and other amenities. It also sits directly to the north of Lewes Road (B2192), which connects the village with Lewes and offers easy and quick access to the A27 and key towns and cities across Sussex and Hampshire.
