Sustainable homes & strong communities
As an independent housebuilder, we have an opportunity to set the blueprint for future housebuilding, while playing our part in providing a solution to Britain’s generational housing crisis.
For us, it’s always been about more than just building houses. We are looking to build a legacy that goes beyond bricks and mortar. We are constantly thinking about how a home makes people feel.
Over the last 20 years, we’ve focused on how to create sustainable communities when there is a desire to do things differently. We don’t believe that housebuilders are currently doing enough. We want to be better and show others what they can achieve.
We do the right thing, because it’s the right thing to do.
Creating new towns & villages
New towns and villages will transform the way people think about a new-build development. We let the natural landscape lead the way and build houses surrounded by green spaces that have energy efficiency, biodiversity and sustainable community living at their heart.
Our plans will provide homes that are energy efficient and net zero carbon, ensuring that our houses not only become homes for the people that live in them, but are also fit for the future. We create communities that last.
Setting the gold standard for affordable homes
We will continue to deliver schemes which provide homes for all and don’t differentiate between private and affordable homes. Because of this, you won’t see us avoiding our responsibility to deliver affordable homes now, or in the future.
In 2023, we delivered around 600 affordable homes across the south of England, which included new net zero carbon affordable homes for Waverley Borough Council in Surrey.
Net Zero carbon living
We are proud to be leading the way on this critical issue and are well ahead of other major housebuilders.
A net zero carbon home is highly energy efficient and powered from on-site and/or off-site renewable energy sources. You will typically see us using air source heat pumps and solar panels when building homes.
We are currently partnering with Octopus Energy to deliver zero bills homes at our Templegate development in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. These homes feature additional solar panels and battery storage enabling customers to live in a comfortable, warm home with no energy bills for at least five years.
Community at the heart
Creating places that enable people to live happier and healthier lives is at the heart of our vision for creating sustainable communities. We know that houses become homes and homes become a community because of the people that live in them.
We aim to enhance the quality of life for everyone in the community, not just the people who live in our homes.
At our site in Pease Pottage, our Section 106 requirement for primary education was £1.3 million. We prioritised delivery of a £4 million primary school and committed to fully fund this, resulting in an overprovision of £2.7 million. This exemplar primary school is now complete and full of students, well ahead of the planning requirement.
Stay in touch
We are at the cutting edge of sustainable placemaking, incorporating renewable technologies such as solar panels and heat pumps that help us deliver net zero carbon homes in lifetime use. All our standard house type exceed Passivhaus’ space-heating standards. We are also partnering with Octopus Energy to deliver Zero Bills homes.
We always deliver policy-compliant affordable housing and, indeed, work closely with Housing Associations and Councils to deliver social housing. We operate across the south east and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can bring net zero carbon homes to your areas.
