We are a proud signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, having become the first home builder in the South East to receive a Gold Award Armed Forces Covenant in 2023.
We continue our unwavering commitment to the fair treatment and support of the armed forces community, recognising the value serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to our industry and the country. From achieving the Bronze award in 2020, to subsequently achieving the Silver Award in 2021. An accolade which represents a deeper commitment to the recruitment of armed forces personnel and the promotion of armed forces policies throughout the company.

Serving those who serve: a Veteran's journey with Thakeham
This case study explores the journey of Ben Cook, a veteran who completed 22 years of service in the British Army, receiving Long Service and Good Conduct Awards.
Having enlisted in the Royal Artillery in 1991, Ben completed basic training in 1992 and was then posted to the 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, participating in various operational exercises in Sierra Leone, Cyprus, Iraq and Afghanistan. After serving as part of a Brigade Commander’s close protection team, Ben became Battery Quarter Master Sergeant (BQMS) in Germany, managing facilities and equipment for 150+ personnel. He later worked in an Army Careers Information Office, presenting the army as a first-choice career at schools and career events before helping to set up a new BQMS department in a newly formed Royal Signal/Artillery unit.
This interview highlights Ben’s time in the forces, the challenges he faced, achievements and memories, transitioning to civilian life, his role at Thakeham and what it means to be part of a company that supports the Armed Forces Covenant.
