Work starts on 250 sustainable homes in Yapton
250 new homes
Work starts this week on 250 new sustainable homes in Yapton, bringing a new focus on low-cost energy and affordable housing for the local community.
In May, affordable housing provider Hyde Group appointed South East community creator Thakeham to build 220 houses and 30 flats on Bilsham Road on the south western edge of Yapton which is, in turn, three miles north east of Bognor Regis.
Building will take place over four phases with completion early in 2025. 92 homes will be available for social rent whilst the remaining 152 will be offered for shared ownership.
With sustainability in mind, the homes will use timber frame construction throughout. All the homes will achieve the highest Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) A rating. There will be extensive electrical vehicle charging across the site and the homes will include hydrogen-ready boilers and the whole development.
