Appointed to build 50 new homes in Loxwood

We’ve been appointed by social housing provider Stonewater to build 50 new homes in Loxwood, West Sussex.

50 affordable homes

When completed, it will feature a mix of 1,2,3 and 4-bedroom homes, all to be provided as affordable housing. The homes will be available as a mix of rented and intermediate tenures.

Currently work is progressing well and building is on schedule to be completed later this year.

Rob Boughton, CEO of Thakeham, said:

It was great news for us to continue our relationship with our partners Stonewater. This deal combined several elements including land sale and overseeing the planning agreement.

This outcome reflects Thakeham Group’s ability to understand and meet the needs of our partners; plus our agility and flexibility to respond to their unique residential market needs.

A welcome partnership extension

We confirmed our first partnership with Stonewater back in 2019, with the award of a contract to build 51 affordable homes in the village of Smallfield in Surrey.

The Smallfield development delivered 26 affordable homes for rent (a mixture of one and two-bed flats as well as two and three-bed houses) and 25 shared ownership homes (two, three and four-bed houses).

In 2021, we commenced construction on 132 homes for Stonewater in Haslemere, Surrey. The project at Sturt Road Haslemere will consist of 79 homes for social rent, 44 for shared ownership and nine properties for rent-to-own, with completion due for Spring 2023.

Marie Riordan, Director of Development (South & Central) at Stonewater, said:

We are delighted to be starting work on this development with Thakeham, to deliver desperately needed affordable homes for local people in the small rural village of Loxwood.

As well as creating beautiful places for people to live, whilst helping to meet local housing need, these homes showcase the kind of energy efficiency innovations we are introducing to help reduce the UK’s carbon footprint to net zero by 2050, while cutting our residents’ energy bills.

Net zero by 2025

We understand the importance of committing to a Sustainable future, and not just talking about it, but actually taking action:

Thakeham were the first UK housebuilder to sign the SME Climate Hub commitment, joining us to the UN’s Race To Zero.

Thakeham is the only housebuilder with Net Zero commitments across our homes, production and operation.

Thakeham is also leading the Home Builders Federation’s Future Homes Taskforce.
