Won ‘Excellence in Partnership Working’ Award

Thakeham has won an award for the company’s support of careers provision at a Surrey school.

We were delighted to win the category of ‘Excellence in Partnership Working’ at Coast to Capital LEP’s Enterprise Adviser Network celebration event at Crawley College on Thursday, November 7th.

The accolade recognised Thakeham’s support of the Royal Alexandra and Albert School (RAAS) in Reigate, Surrey. The highlight was last July’s ‘World of Work Week’ when Thakeham managers took over teaching Year 10 classes.

During the classes, Thakeham staff revealed more about their own areas of expertise including CV’s and interviews, design and engineering, advertising and marketing, leadership and entrepreneurship.

Four other advisers and schools were shortlisted: Butlins Bognor Regis and St Phillip Howard School; Kathie Crane from Prosperon and Sir Robert Woodard School; Julie Joyce and Burgess Hill APC; and AMEX and Albion in the Community.

Liane Richardson, director for Thakeham said: “It’s wonderful news to win this award!
As a business, we came together to create a programme that offered students a glimpse into our working lives.

“There was a lot of interest both here at Thakeham and throughout the school community. Thank you to everybody who was involved. We can’t wait to work again with the Royal Alexandra and Albert School over the year to come.”

Liane also spoke at the event last Thursday alongside other speakers including Frances Rutter, Principal and CEO of NESCOT College and Chair of Coast to Capital Skills 360 Board and Will Morlidge, Area Manager for the Careers and Enterprise Company.

More than 90 people attended the event which celebrated best practice careers provision in schools and colleges, employers, and local providers throughout the Coast to Capital LEP. Speakers also discussed the importance of careers guidance and provision; and offered a glimpse into the future of careers and information, advice and guidance.

For Coast to Capital LEP, Lisa Mobbs, Enterprise Coordinator Team Leader said: “ We wanted to come together and celebrate the commitment and dedication of the fantastic organisations and individuals who work so hard in careers provision. Thakeham are a wonderful example of a private enterprise that appreciates the value in collaboration to inspire the next generation.”

Scott Randolph, Careers Lead at Royal Alexandra and Albert School added: “We are grateful to Thakeham for the time and energy they gave us. This was a wonderful example of a local business caring enough to contribute genuine value to the lives of students. Their commercial stories and insights brought a fresh perspective to our careers teaching.”
