New life for brownfield site at Lenham, Kent

New life for brownfield site

Thakeham is excited to announce a new partnership with mhs homes on the redevelopment of a brownfield site in Lenham, Kent. This marks the first project undertaken together and one of the largest contracts to date awarded by mhs homes.

Grounded on a shared belief that everyone deserves a home to be proud of; the combination of Thakeham’s passion for meaningful placemaking and mhs homes’ dedication to making a difference means the beginning of a promising relationship.

Addressing the housing crisis

The site has detailed consent for 72 homes which will be delivered by mhs homes. The scheme will offer a mixture of affordable housing (affordable rent and shared ownership), plus a number of market rent homes. As a result of this, the project will contribute positively to mhs homes’ ultimate ambition to help end the housing crisis in north Kent while also make a contribution to meet the housing need in and around the Maidstone area.

Extended Thakeham family

Rob Boughton, CEO of Thakeham, said:

Thakeham is excited to be delivering a scheme that will not only aid in providing affordable units to those that need them, but also a project that will enhance the local community by delivering quality homes, thoughtfully designed and expertly executed.

Thakeham would like to take this opportunity to welcome mhs homes into the extended Thakeham Family and is thrilled to have forged this new relationship with an organisation so akin to the Thakeham values of family, community and quality.

Mike Allwood, Senior Development Manager at mhs homes, said:

This is our exciting new development which Thakeham are helping us deliver. It’ll bring safe and secure homes to those who need it, and to those who can’t afford to buy a home outright. For them, it’ll be a stepping stone to a better future which we’re proud to be involved in.
