Site Manager receives recognition at NHBC Awards

Regional recognition

A Thakeham site manager has won further regional recognition for high standards in house building.

On Friday, 33-year-old Calum Semark, received a NHBC’s (National House Building Council) Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence for 2020.

Back in June, the Site Manager at Woodgate in Pease Pottage, West Sussex, was acknowledged for commitment to excellence in the Pride in the Job Awards. Winning this award put Calum, alongside his fellow quality award winners, in the running to win a prestigious Seal of Excellence.

Thakeham is delighted to announce that after a subsequent inspection by the NHBC regional director, Calum has been awarded a Seal of Excellence. This phenomenal achievement is testament to the unrelenting hard work that Calum and his team put in to ensure Thakeham’s drive for exceptional quality is upheld.

The latest Seal of Excellence accolade now places Calum among the best 50-60 site managers in the UK; from an original field of more than 11,000 entries.

It’s the 40th year the prestigious awards have been judged, and the first time in their history that the awards ceremony has been a virtual online event. The competition is dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the very highest standards in house building.

A wonderful surpise

For Thakeham, Rob Boughton, Group CEO said: “We were delighted when Calum was recognised back in June. So, it was a wonderful surprise for Calum to be further acknowledged with the Seal of Excellence at the virtual awards too. But no less than Calum and his team deserve. We know how hard they have all worked this year under unique circumstances this year.”

Calum Semark, Thakeham Group site manager, said: “This is a wonderful award for the the whole team and the work we’re all doing together here at Woodgate. The construction industry has endured a year of changes and challenges. The job alone has its rewards. But industry accolades like this are a very welcome bonus to all of us.

“We’ll continue to create the best community for residents that we can. Quality and high building standards are a big part of that.”

The Woodgate development at Pease Pottage is a joint venture between Thakeham Group and Abri.
