Welcoming Spring in Surrey

Let’s explore the array of events Surrey has to offer during springtime – including a range of outdoor events including spring markets, gardening expos, and community initiatives.

Kew Gardens 10K & Half Marathon Run

To kickstart spring, why not venture over to Kew Gardens, where there are a bunch of 10k and Half Marathon fundraising events. Hosted inside the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens, the course is perfect for people of all athletic abilities; the routes are fast and flat, and welcoming to beginner runners and fast-paced walkers! 

If a 10K is not enough, the next day, they are hosting a half-marathon event – starting on closed roads inside Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The details are here:

10K – Priced at £47.50 per ticket, 30th March.

Half Marathon – Priced at £50.50 per ticket, 31st March.

Guildford Farmers’ Market

Taking place on the famous High Street on the first Tuesday of every month from February, the Guildford Farmers’ Market runs between 10:30am to 3:30 pm – the perfect activity for a sunny, Spring day. The market has been running for over 20 years and is well-celebrated within the local community. Some of the things available to buy include meats, cheeses, breads, vegetables, artwork, jams & preserves, baked goods, fresh herbs, oils, teas and homemade drinks!

The Big Purple Wellness Weekend

Join the Big Purple Wellness Weekend – a chilled, blissful day or weekend in the Surrey countryside for all the family to enjoy. With talks and workshops available throughout both days, the wellness weekend also includes free and paid activities, and zones of the best holistic practitioners and artisan craftspeople, along with fabulous retailers and more. The large marketplace includes crafts, eco products, clothing, crystals, food stalls, books and more. 

Additionally, your dog can receive a relaxing massage, tasty treats and accessories. From £5 per child and £10 per adult, plus camping available at £20 per night plus entry tickets.

RHS Garden Wisley

Springtime is the perfect season for starting gardening as a hobby, so what better place for some inspiration than the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). As well as exploring the large variety of plants and flowers, visitors can also experience The Rock Garden and The Orchid House, or take part in The Giant Easter Egg Hunt. 

There are plenty of activities and facilities available to make this perfect for a family day trip. 

Tickets start at £18.50 for an adult and £9.25 for a child.

Surrey Hills Spring Fair

Experience a wide range of exciting activities that celebrate the culture and heritage of the Surrey Hills. Visitors can explore the craft stalls, food vendors and live music, among many other events taking place across the weekend. Some of the activities you can expect to see include pottery painting, crockery smashing and creating willow art. 

The event is running from 6th to 7th April, 10am to 4pm. Tickets for adults are £10, children go free.

Easter Adventure Day

A fun-filled activity for young adventurers, the easter trail will get children engaging all of their senses as they complete different challenges and activities. As well as the adventure trail, families can enjoy other aspects of Claremont Landscape Garden, including the play area and lake. 

The event is running from 23rd March to 14th April with tickets available from £3 per child.

Surrey Day

On Saturday 11th May, Surrey locals will gather together to celebrate their county through a free community initiative, spearheaded by Visit Surrey. The theme for the day is Surrey From the Sky and will see people of all ages take part in activities and special events. Visit some of the great vantage points, such as Leith Hill, or explore Birdworld in Farnham.  

The event is free to all, and everyone is encouraged to take part and get creative.
