Unexpected bonus for recommending a new home

Friends and work colleagues, Mike and Keenan, recently celebrated becoming neighbours as they settled in to their new Thakeham homes at Halstead Lanes, Woking. They were surprised and delighted to then be presented with the added bonus of £1,000 of John Lewis vouchers thanks to Thakeham’s ‘Recommend a Friend’ scheme.

Mike and his girlfriend, Kirsty, had put down a deposit at Thakeham’s successful Halstead Lanes development and their enthusiasm led to their friend, Keenan, visiting the show home to see the new homes for himself.

“We’ve all been friends for about four years since Keenan joined the company I work for, Kirsty and I had viewed a few properties in the Woking area before a quick Google search came up with Thakeham at Halstead Lanes. We fell in love with the look of the houses straightaway and moved in on 21 September which was definitely the most exciting day of the year for us.”

Although Mike and Kirsty were first to reserve at Halstead Lanes, Keenan’s house was ready slightly earlier and he was the first to move in to the development.

“As a South African coming to London, I struggled to know where to spend the next few years, Mike and Kirsty had put down a deposit so I thought I’d go and see the development while I was looking in the area but I didn’t in my wildest dreams think I could afford a newly built home.

I walked around the show home and before I knew it, the Sales Consultant had a Mortgage Adviser on the phone who said I could go ahead. I did ask Mike and Kirsty if they minded before I reserved though!”

Keenan chose a semi-detached house with a south facing garden, which he bought using the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.

“I barbecue a lot and I love to entertain. This house has a big kitchen which opens out to the patio so we barbecue all day long and of course Mike and Kirsty have been round. We’ve become friends with other neighbours too. Now I get to work in London and live in the country where the neighbours say ‘hello’ which is great.” said Keenan

Halstead Lanes is bordered by mature trees and offers a selection of two, three and four bedrooms homes in this attractive Surrey setting close to Lightwater Country Park.

It’s just awesome to be friends and neighbours. The move to Surrey from London was always going to be a tough transition but having Keenan literally a few doors away has made such a difference.” added Mike.
