Inspiring the next generation of builders
From planning to bricklaying – we’re inspiring children of all ages to consider a career in construction.
Our key stage two ecology programme for primary schools
For primary age children, we deliver social value via our Eddie & Ellie Wild Adventures programme. Eddie & Ellie’s Wild Adventures is our industry leading, holistic ecology programme aimed at supporting key stage two primary pupils.
The programme follows the life cycle of a development to deliver a series of workshops, in school activities and site visits, using a children’s book as springboard into a number of National Curriculum topics.
Cornerstone employer adressing skills gaps at secondary schools
For secondary age children, we focus on bright futures and create social value through our work as a Cornerstone Employer with the Careers Enterprise Company. We collaborate closely with the West Sussex, Brighton & Hove Careers Hub, as well as other education providers and influencers.
We address the skills gaps our sector faces through a programme of in depth work experience, virtual careers insight days, face-to-face and online school careers talks, fairs and outreach programmes. This compliments our work with further education and apprenticeship providers to support young people joining our industry.
The Careers and Enterprise company
“Thank you for sharing your experience and journey (so far) with the Year 12 students. You’re both amazing ambassadors for your organisation and sector… It’s so inspiring for young people to hear directly from other young people!”
Lisa Mobbs, Strategic Hub Lead, West Sussex, Brighton & Hove Careers Hub
Building new education facilities in our communities
In addition to our schools engagement programmes, we deliver state of the art education facilities. Research found that students in poor buildings scored between 5 and 10% lower than students in functional buildings on academic tests after controlling for socioeconomic status. This means we can have a huge impact on students wellbeing and attainment levels.
At Woodgate by Pease Pottage, we delivered a new £4.1m primary school early on in the development.
Partners with leading educational programmes & charities
Supporters of the Tomorrows engineers code, we work with other organisations to increase the diversity and number of young people in Engineering.
As industry champions in the East Sussex LEP area, we support young people’s careers education and inspire future generations into a career in construction.
We partner with charites like SATRO to provide construction BTEC programs to secondary schools, and Chapter One to provide 1:1 reading support to primary schools.
