These community trusts are owned and run democratically by members of the community, for the community.
Whether the trust is a shop, pub or even a woodland, providing residents with the tools and opportunity to serve their community has proven a successful and sustainable way of creating a beating heart within residential development.
Our partnership with the Plunkett Foundation demonstrates an alignment in value and in vision. Both the foundation and Thakeham believe in the power of community and its ability to combat loneliness, aid well-being, and help manifest healthy environments in which to work and learn.
Together, we are creating inspirational communities that will thrive for generations to come.
Woodgate Community Hub
Woodgate’s Community Hub will include a village store, café and meeting rooms which will be managed as a true community business, guaranteeing its longevity as a crucial service to residents and locals a like.
In what is a unique relationship Thakeham is working closely with the Plunkett Foundation which has a wealth of experience nationally and locally in enabling communities to come together in the form of a community business to create and run community facilities including pubs and shops.
Thakeham is building, fitting out and making this hub available to the local community. Plunkett will be on hand every step of the way to help set up the community, engage with local residents to enable it to operate and flourish and in doing so, echo the community values that underpin the ethos of the whole development.
