About our proposals
The Government requires Lewes District Council to deliver a minimum number of new homes per year across the district to meet local needs. In the district, the average income is £27,838, while the average house price is 14 times higher at £393,568. From 2020 to 2021, just 72 affordable homes were built across Lewes district as a whole. Meanwhile in 2020, 1,090 households were waiting on the local housing register for an affordable home.
Our proposals are for around 100 new homes, including 40% affordable homes for people on the local housing register. Our plans include a mixture of styles and size homes to help people move onto, and up the housing ladder, and for older people to downsize.
We publically consulted on our proposals from 20 October to 16 November 2023, and submitted for review by Lewes District Council (application LW/23/0752) in December 2023. You can still share your support for these much needed affordable homes and email the local planning team.

Our proposals
Designed with the local community’s needs in mind to create a positive legacy for Ringmer, our plans include:
*Site layout is a draft and subject to change.
Sustainable homes, strong communities
We deliver sustainable, infrastructure-led communities and is an industry leader on biodiversity and the environment.
Sustainability
We ensure our landscape-led development proposals integrate well with the local setting and have a benefit for local wildlife. We ensure that existing trees and hedgerows are retained wherever possible and plant new trees and shrubs in new green spaces.
New bird and bat boxes are provided on homes and trees to ensure an environmentally friendly development providing a Biodiversity Net Gain of at least 10% across the site.
We will protect and enhance the wildlife corridor to the south of the site and provide links to existing rights of way.
We are also proposing a new play area for local children to enjoy.
Community
Creating communities is what we do. We build integrated communities that challenge issues of loneliness and promote healthy living in enhanced natural environments.
Working with our partners, we create award winning sustainable, infrastructure led developments. We work with community groups, charity partners and sponsor events in the areas we work. With their help, we identify what infrastructure they need when planning new homes.
